We are now recruiting for a Technical Lead. Come and join the FMRI team to play a leading role in shaping the UK’s future marine research capability.
About the Role
The Technical Lead will be a senior member of the programme leadership team. We will ask you to engage with operators, developers and suppliers of marine technology to understand its potential and bring that knowledge to bear on the decisions we will make. You will be expected to work with other members of the FMRI team to develop actionable infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of the marine science community.
Host Institution: National Oceanography Centre
About You
We are looking for someone who can pick up and run with a technical development roadmap that links marine science requirements with technological developments that are sprinting ahead. Someone who can explore how the digital ecosystem is shifting the operating environment and why coherent and complementary capabilities will be increasingly important. Someone who can deliver a different way of doing things.
You will be an experienced engineer and effective communicator who can build enduring relationships with subject matter experts across diverse disciplines including: marine autonomy, sensor systems, digital infrastructure and ship technologies. You will demonstrate the ability to analyse and interpret complex user requirements, translating these into actionable solutions that you can document in a way that is understandable to senior stakeholders and decision makers. You will be able to work collaboratively with other members of the FMRI team and demonstrate the flexibility and resilience to operate effectively within a complex and rapidly changing environment.
