Our Lead Scientist, Dr Katy Hill, is leaving the FMRI programme to take up a new role at the Met Office leading on underpinning science and model development critical to both weather and climate prediction. Her contribution to the FMRI programme, most importantly for leading the Science Requirements Framework (SRF) process and engagement with the marine science community, has been significant and she will be sorely missed.
Production of the SRF will continue with support from Professor Alex Rogers, the Chair of the FMRI Science Advisory Group, as well as from the Grand Challenge Champions, Editorial Group and other members of the Science Advisory Group.
The search for a new Lead Scientist for the FMRI programme has begun. Please monitor FMRI channels for further information about how to apply for this role.
Reflecting on the last 2 years, Katy noted:
“Working on the FMRI programme has been an exciting and rewarding experience. FMRI provides an opportunity to both push the boundaries of innovation and drive integration that delivers maximum science impact and information value. I look forward to continuing to champion and support the goals of FMRI from afar in the context of my new role!”
